Worship

During the ongoing building closure, our worship services have moved online. If you would like to join us, we meet via ZOOM at 10:00 a.m. Please note that despite provincial guidelines being more relaxed, the decision of Session is for online worship to continue until January 2022 at the earliest while we continue to carefully consider all that is required to safely re-open in a way that allows those who wish to continue worshiping from home to do so as well.

You can access this from a computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access. If you do not have internet access, you can also dial in from your landline or cell phone. For security reasons, we do not publish our meeting access information online (and it changes each week) but if you would like to join us we are happy to help you connect, simply send us an email or give us a call (see our “contact” page).

What to expect in online worship? If you are joining via the internet, you will see the live video from anyone who is sharing their webcam, you will also see the slides for worship which might include prayers, responsive readings, and lyrics to hymns. If you are joining by phone, you won’t be able to see but you will be able to hear. We do our best to help those who are listening follow the service and understand what is happening. What is possibly most important to know is that when you join, you are muted. This means that while you can hear us, we cannot hear you. So feel free to sing, praise, and pray as loud as you like.

Generally, each service includes many of the elements you might find at Melville on a regular Sunday morning. Call to Worship, Hymns/Songs, Children’s Story, Scripture, Reflection, and Prayer. We aim for 30-40 minutes of “formal” worship and then move to a “Virtual Coffee Hour” where we invite those who wish to share about their week, any “God Sightings”, and any prayer requests.

Zoom isn’t for you? We understand! It’s not for everyone. We hope that you will stay connected with us during the week. We’re happy to help you find another opportunity to worship. If you would like us to mail you some service information (prayers, sermons, etc) please let us know. If you would like to see a list of churches offering Facebook Livestream, YouTube, and other streaming options, you can see a few here.
